Clare Fraenkel will be educating the young minds of Britain in Ludenwic! Clio’s Company draws its inspiration equally from the theatre and from historical research. A high proportion of their projects focus on some aspect of the history of London.
Set in the time of the Anglo Saxon Chronicle, when Roman London was still occupied by the “Boc Laeden” who are trying to preserve the old way of life, while the present-day Covent Garden is occupied by newcomers from across the North Sea. Children become Saxon Londoners – some from each side of the English/British divide – and take an active part in this unique form of interactive Theatre in Education, encountering some of the characters and dilemmas of the time.
The day takes place in and around the historic church of All Hallows by the Tower, founded at the time of the action of the play.
Ludenwic is playing from 9 – 27 March 2020.
